Dr. Kristy Bennett

Dr. Kristy Bennett grew up in Columbia, Maryland. After receiving her Bachelor of Science degree in Animal Science from the University of Maryland at College Park, she attended the Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine, graduating with honors in 2001 with a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree. Following graduation from vet school, Dr. Bennett spent several years practicing at small animal practices in Maryland to develop and perfect her medical and surgical skills before moving to England with her husband, where she practiced in Oxfordshire. In 2010, Dr. Bennett returned to Maryland and practiced at several small animal practices in Maryland. She has also pursued advanced training in soft tissue surgery, and dentistry and oral surgery. In 2014, she purchased the long-established Montgomery Village Animal Hospital. Under Dr. Bennett’s directorship, MVAH has focused on dogs and cats exclusively and is implementing the low-stress handling techniques advocated by respected experts Sophia Yin and Patricia McConnell. Away from work, Dr. Bennett enjoys visiting her parents in Bethany Beach, scuba diving, running with her husband, Craig, and the company of their rescue dog Jolene, a black and tan coonhound, and three cats, Dr. Evil, Putt Putt, and Luna.

“I have been in the field of veterinary medicine for 25 years. For the past 22 years, I have been here at MVAH. I absolutely love what I do and can’t imagine doing anything else.

I strive to make clients and pets feel safe and comfortable. I am fear-free certified and do my best to ensure pets have limited stress when they are in the clinic.

When not at work, I love spending time with my husband and daughters.  We are huge sports fans and you can find us cheering on the Washington Commanders and Baltimore Orioles.”

I started working as a part-time groomer at the Montgomery Village Animal Hospital (MVAH) in the fall of 2018. As a former barber, it had always been a dream of mine to use my skills to learn to groom dogs, as a hobby.  That’s how much I love dogs.  MVAH helped me realize my dream.

In December 2023 I retired from working with the Montgomery County Public School System in Maryland. It was then that I was given an opportunity to further my ambitions of working in the field of veterinarian medicine.  In March of 2024, I became MVAH’s new administrative assistant.  Since then, my love of dogs and cats, and my desire to provide owners with the best services has grown.

“I’ve been working in the field for about 2 years now with no previous history.  I learn as I go, and I have learned quite a lot. What motivates me to work w/animals is knowing I am helping pets who can’t vocalize/help themselves.  It makes me feel very important and happy knowing that I am making a difference. I love to read and paint.  Just relaxing and enjoying quiet time brings me great pleassure. but I also love gaming.  Video games, table top games, card games, you name it.  I love games.  Anything that’ll cause fun and laughter.”

“Hello, my name is Jorge, I love meeting new people, watching movies, and hanging out with friends.  I love working and meeting new people.  I do not like working in toxic environments.  I have no experience in the veterinary field but I like learning and working at MVAH has helped me understand better.  I love pets/animals in general.  If it were up to me, I would have a zoo.  When I was a kid I had all sorts of pets from parakeets to turtles to dogs, even a chicken.  I love all sorts of animals and helping them when they need it.”

“I moved to Maryland from Texas in 2020.  I am currently enrolled in a veterinary assistant certification program at Montgomery Community College.  I have had many pets throughout my life. I currently have a cat, dog, and bearded dragon. After my old cat’s passing, I have been very focused on learning everything I need to in order to help as many animals as possible and make sure they get the care they deserve! I am always open to learning new things and growing my knowledge in the field. “
